A Snuggle Day

With the paper out of the way, and with a couple of days to kill before we can pick up the envelopes from the commercial mail service, yesterday was designated as a snuggle day. We treat ourselves to one of those every now and then, and treasure them.

Since I had worked late the night before, it was after 3 a.m. when we got to bed, so we slept in, and then just laid in bed snuggling, talking, and enjoying quiet time together. We talked about everything and nothing, we snuggled some more, and just luxuriated in being together, without a thing we had to get up and do.

At one point, we drifted off again, and were awakened by somebody knocking softly on our door, but neither of us was ready to let anyone into our special little world, and they went away.

Eventually we did get out of bed, and Terry made some delicious crepes for brunch, while I checked e-mail and logged in a couple of orders. When we opened the front curtains, Terry spotted a note under the windshield wiper of our Explorer, so I went out to retrieve it. It was from Francis and Colene Callahan, longtime Gypsy Journal and blog readers, who wanted to tell us about a free overnight parking place in Idaho Falls to add to our Free Campgrounds & Overnight Parking Spots guide

It’s funny how fast a day goes when you stay in bed half of it! 🙂 We watched a little TV, read some of our favorite blogs, and I answered a few e-mails. Eventually I walked across the campground to the RV site where Francis and Colene were parked and introduced myself, and thanked them for dropping off the note on the overnight parking site. Along the way, I bumped into Terry and Dale Pace, sitting under the awning of their Tiffin Phaeton, and we visited for a while. We have not seen them since last year, so it was good to have a chance to catch up.

Just as I got back to our Winnebago, a truck pulling a fifth wheel stopped and honked its horn, and it was our friends Tab and Deanna McBlane, whom we haven’t seen in a coon’s age. We talked for a few minutes, and then they went off to get settled into their RV site. I always say that if you spend enough time at Elkhart Campground and the Escapees RV Club’s Rainbows End RV Park in Livingston, Texas, eventually you’ll meet every RVer in the world, because they all seem to come through one place or the other, sooner or later.

We spent the evening doing the same thing we did all day long, just enjoying each others’ company. I took a nap for a while, and when I woke up Terry had a delicious dinner of buffalo hash and hot oat bread almost ready to put on the table, and she followed that up with an outstanding fresh peach pie. Yummy!

So that was our day – we didn’t do a darned thing that would change the world, create a new product, or much of anything else. It was a snuggle day, and we loved very minute of it! :)

I may have goofed off all day, but for the last week I have hogged the keyboard, preventing Bad Nick from getting a chance to vent. But yesterday he made up for lost time, posting a new Bad Nick Blog titled Aren’t We The People? Check it out and leave a comment.
